About the Kruger National Park

The Kruger National Park has become world-renowned and today offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. The park was first established in 1889, initially to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld. Over time it has spread over a vast area, stretching 350 km from north to south, is home to great numbers and varieties of amphibians, reptiles and birds. Indeed the reserve hosts - 336 types of trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals.
Big attractions here are obviously the Big Five - the lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and white and black rhino. The sight of one of these majestic animals is enough to get the heart beating faster, it's quite the adrenaline rush, especially at close range on a conducted wilderness trail. Others in the wildlife populations include the likes of the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, hippo and wild dog. Another attraction is undoubtedly the Bushmen rock paintings and archeological sites also situated around the park.
Regarded as the flagship of the South African national parks, and who would disagree? The Kruger park also boasts some of the most diverse fauna and flora you will find in South Africa. There are numerous wilderness/hiking trails which enables you to explore the Kruger National Park on foot at your own leisure.
